Branching Out Juniors - Green Tree Award
Ages 9-12

Small-group woodland sessions for ages 9–12, building skills and confidence while working towards the Royal Forestry Society Green Tree Award.

What is Branching Out Juniors?

Our Thursday woodland group for children aged 9–12 offers a hands-on, engaging experience in nature from 3:30–5:30pm. Running from April 30th 2026 through to the summer holidays, the programme supports children in working towards the Royal Forestry Society Green Tree Award, helping them build practical outdoor skills, confidence, and a deeper connection with the natural world.

With small group sizes, we ensure every child receives plenty of support and gets the most out of each session, finishing the block with a well-earned badge to celebrate their achievements.

What we do

Our brand new after-school sessions give younger children the opportunity to work towards the Royal Forestry Society Green Tree Award while developing valuable outdoor skills. Each session is thoughtfully structured, with time split between free play and hands-on skill-building, alongside focused activities that contribute towards earning their badge.

The programme is designed to equip children with the skills and confidence to progress into our Branching Out Teens group. Children who complete the award will be automatically offered a place in the teens group if they are old enough, or onto the next block of Junior sessions to continue their journey.

What to bring

As sessions take place outdoors in all weathers, children should wear weather-appropriate clothing. This includes a waterproof coat and trousers, wellies or sturdy shoes, and spare clothes just in case. We believe there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing.

Safety and Supervision

We do accept drop offs for this session but this is done on an individual basis. We ask that you attend at least the first two sessions with your young person to see if a drop off arrangement is suitable for future groups.
